today, i read the beginning of Oliver Twist. the beginning was pretty sad because Oliver's mother died just moments after he was born. and just like that, Oliver became an orphan. he grew up in a workhouse, where he was fed very little and treated poorly. i enjoyed reading this book because the author made it seem like Oliver was a special child, so that kept me interested. i think it'd be better if i actually remembered to bring my own independent reading book so i'd be able to finish in time for the next reading journal.
