i liked the alchemist.[: in the beginning, i thought it was really boring, but i got into it as we went along. i liked reading about the obstacles that santiago had to face because i saw him change, grow, and learn more about himself and life each time.
santiago's learned many things like reading omens, the language & soul of the world, alchemy, love, and everything that has to do with life. i think as santiago learned more and more, and as he met more people, he began to accumulate knowledge about various things including reading omens. and he starts to figure things out for himself rather than relying on everyone else to tell him what to do. by searching for omens, he can answer his own questions. he's able to do so many things that he's never thought about doing, like turning himself into the wind. i think a big discovery for santiago was finding his treasure and realizing his personal legend. throughout the whole journey, santiago was able to learn to think for himself, to follow his heart, and to be aware of everything else going on. and if he stayed a shepard, he would've just been an ordinary boy who knew nothing about the soul of the world but more importantly, he would've never achieved his personal legend.
